An excreta flow diagram (also often described as a shit flow diagram, SFD) is a tool to readily understand and communicate how excreta physically flows through a city or town. SFD is a visualization tool that summarizes complex information into an easy-to-understand diagram, as it simply shows how excreta is or is not contained along the sanitation value chain.

 

ENPHO with the support of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and in coordination with the Municipal Association of Nepal (MuAN) and UCLG ASPAC organized an orientation on Shit Flow Diagram (SFD) for local enumerator of 6 municipalities of Sudurpaschim province. The major objective of this orientation is to enhance the capacity of enumerators to conduct household surveys and institutional surveys to collect data on sanitation from each ward of the municipalities to prepare the SFD of respective municipalities.

The orientation were conducted at:
Badimalika Municipality, Bajura on 8 and 9 June, 2022;
Mahakali Municipality, Darchula on 8and 9 June, 2022;
Dipayasilgadi Municipality, Doti on 9 to10 June, 2022;
Patan Municipality, Baitadi on 12 to13 June, 2022;
Jayprithivi Municipality, Bajhang on 12 to13 June, 2022 and
Mangalsen Municipality, Achham on 13 to14 June, 2022

Moreover, key informant interviews with municipal stakeholders, water service providers, public toilet service providers, desludging service providers were conducted.
