Sanitation App was officially launched in Mahalaxmi Municipality, Lalitpur district amid a program organized on 26 May 2023 at The Malla Hotel, Lainchaur, Kathmandu. Sanitation App is a mobile based application for septic tank monitoring and inspection in Mahalaxmi Municipality. Mahalaxmi Municipality launched a sanitation app in municipality as first of its kind in Nepal.

The launching program was started with the objective sharing of the program by Mr. Rajendra Shrestha, Program Director of ENPHO. Mr. Shrestha shared that sanitation app was specially developed for Mahalaxmi Municipality for inspection and monitoring of standard septic tank. Mr. Shrestha furthermore shared that sanitation app was essential for the accountability of FSM by-laws of Mahalaxmi Municipality and furthermore helps in strengthening the monitoring of standard septic tank in the municipality in a digital form. Additionally, Mr. Shrestha provides his gratitude towards Mahalaxmi Municipality for developing and launching the sanitation app as first time in Nepal.

Mr. Maharshi Rajbhandari, software developer of Innovative Solutions Pvt. Ltd. shared about the Integrated Municipal Information System (IMIS) developed for Mahalaxmi Municipality. During the same event, Mr. Suresh Thapa Magar, shared detail about the of sanitation app and demonstrated its function.

Mr. Rabindra Upreti, Section Head of Building and Settlement Development Section, during the special remarks from Mahalaxmi Municipality, stated that launching of sanitation app in the municipality is bigger achievement in technology and it will help in monitoring of standard septic tank monitoring within municipality.

The program was concluded with the special remarks from Ms. Laxmi Maharjan, Deputy Mayor of Mahalaxmi Municipality. During her special remarks, “Our municipality have prioritized the management of sanitation services within municipality through level of actions. I believe that newly developed and launched sanitation app will help the municipality to track the information and aware community people on importance of standard septic tank. We are thankful for the technical team of ENPHO, Innovative Pvt. Ltd and Mahalaxmi Municipality for their contribution in developing the app and request everyone to further collaborate for the sustainability of the technical system.”
